The API Pipeline Conference and Cybernetics Symposium was held in New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 13-15, 2004. On the agenda for Wednesday, April 14, 2004, API held a session under the Regulatory Update that focused on pipeline research and development. Jeff Wiese from the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (formerly OPS) was the session chairman and set the stage for three R&D presentations that were given. These presentations depicted some of the pipeline research being conducted by PHMSA, Minerals Management Service, Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory and the Pipeline Research Council International Inc.
