Public Abstract

Research included experimental testing and finite element analysis to better understand the behavior of dents in pipelines. The study reported a method to estimate original dent depth if rebound depth is measured, documented fatigue cracking behavior in both restrained and unrestrained dents, and reported acceptance criteria parameters as dent type, dent depth, pressure history, restraint conditions, and pipe parameters.
