Main Objective
Under this grant award Henderson Municipal Gas will expand the GIS system to include accurate spatial identification of the entire natural gas pipeline system, including customer information, which will improve safety and emergency response times. Henderson Municipal Gas will map the location of all valves, regulators. mains, leak data and existing customer locations.
Public Abstract
— Collect more data to improve Henderson Municipal Gas's GIS system for the gas distribution network. Purchase GIS software tools to assist in training and input of all system data to improve the safety and integrity of the gas system and achieve its objectives in the .following ways:
- Public Awareness - determining trends via the GIS system to help maintain this program.
- Damage Prevention - better and more accurate mapping information on the gas system, and increased accuracy in locating underground.facilities.
- Emergency Response - using modern technology and equipment to quickly shut off the flow of escaping gas in emergency situations.
- System Management - using GIS capabilities to better manage service outages, leak data. and corrosion control records.
- Training on ArcGIS Editor and flowGIS software.
- Implement mapping of valves and other facilities, confirm and convert all CAD drawings.
- Main lines will be confirmed and edited (if necessary) during this process.
- Once the services are entered all customer data will be incorporated into the GIS, the Geometric Network will be implemented, risk-assessment modeling will be configured and default reports lbr operations will be programmed.
- Configuration of inspection and GIS feature forms and training on flowGIS Mobile will commence when the above tasks are completed.
- Henderson personnel will be trained on how to use their GPS device and to enter all leak, installation and inspection data to meet the objectives above.
