Overview

Main Objective

Under this grant award Olive Hill. City oIl will foster open communication with the local community, and produce results that will be measurable, and institute technology development. This will include:

• GIS mapping with the overall goal of improved pipeline safety;
• Improving leak detection methods by the purchase of a remote gas leak detector and contracting with the manufacturer for 1-2 days of training with up to four employees, including our certified gas technicians;
• Expanding public education in pipeline safety.

Public Abstract

Under the terms of this agreement. the Recipient must demonstrate completion of the work through the actions it has specified in its Application.

• Environmental Stewardship: Protecting and reducing the risk of harm to the environment.
• Reliability: Mainniin and improve the reliability of City of Olive Hill's natural gas system without compromising safety for the citizens, employees, and property.
• Leak Detection: Improved and faster leak detection on City of Olive Hill's distribution and service lines.
• Disaster Preparedness: Update plans and procedures in order to more effectively coordinate with the Olive Hill volunteer fire department, haz-mat, and emergency management agencies during an emergency.
• Public Awareness: As a member of Kentucky 811 program. conduct education and awareness training for a selected age group at the Olive Hill Elementary School and for City of Olive Hill's senior citizens at the Senior Citizens Center. All new gas customers will receive new public awareness materials related to gas pipeline safety.
