Main Objective

Under this grant award City of Hazard will replace and upgrade gas detectors for the City Gas Department and the City Fire Department to have only one type and brand of gas detector. The project scope includes installing a calibration station in each of the city's fire stations to ensure that each of the detectors receive the correct calibration.

Public Abstract

Under the terms of this agreement, the Recipient must demonstrate completion of the work through the actions it has specified in its Application.

  • Replace all of the different brands and age models of gas detectors used by the city gas department as well as the city fire department and provide them with one brand and model that can be utilized by all personnel of both departments thus streamlining the capabilities and training on the equipment.
  • Purchase multi-gas detectors that will be placed in the service vehicles al the gas department and the response vehicles in the fire department.
  • Purchase complete calibration stations for the detectors to be placed in the cities fire stations.
  • Provide training on both the detectors and the calibration stations to all of the employees who fi)r thewill be utilizing detectors the detectors or the calibrations stations prior to our use of the new equipment. The calibration stations will also have a tracking log to ensure that each detector receives calibration on a timely basis.
