Main Objective

Under this grant award City of Fitchburg will develop a community wide Natural Gas Safety program that has four core objectives: enhance public safety, training of first responders. supply of gas detecting equipment to first responders and identification of natural gas distribution pipeline leaks with the community.

Public Abstract

Under the terms of this agreement. the Recipient will demonstrate completion of the work through the actions it has specified in its Application.

  • Purchase gas detecting equipment
  • Training of First Responders.
  • Supply gas detecting equipment to first responders.
  • Conduct a Picarro cavity ring down spectrometer survey to detect all natural gas distribution pipeline leaks within the city limits.
  • Distribution of the Gas Safety Awareness program throughout the community portals that are deemed appropriate.
  • Provide results of evaluation studies.
  • Produce final report.
