Main Objective
Under this grant award Smalley Foundation will take their newly developed and piloted Pipeline Safety and Awareness for Kids program to elementary schools (grades first through third) in Webb County Texas with an estimated reach over 15.000 students in over 622 classrooms. This will be an organized approach which Smalley Foundation will coordinate with several entities. In addition, Smalley Foundation will write content and produce an instructional video/sizzle reel to provideclassroom teachers and pipeline operators with program details, goals. and objectives.
Public Abstract
Under the terms of this agreement, the Recipient will demonstrate completion of the work through the actions it has specified in its Application.
- Conduct program research to obtain the necessary informationfrom schools, .school districts, and pipeline operators in Webb County. During this process of obtaining information. Smalley Foundation suit/will be in an initial engagement stage with schools, school districts, and pipeline operators as part of the relationship building process. Once infirmation is obtained and organized, Smalley Foundation will customize and prepare classroom materials including participating local pipeline operator information and logos.
- Attend meetings with Superintendents and Principals in Webb County to educate, explain, and generate program "buy-in" and participation.
- Engage with and include local pipeline operators in all stages of the program.
- Work with video producers and graphic design artists to create content. manage, and produce audio-visual tools including a program "sizzle reel" and Smalley Foundation website enhancements specific to this program.
- Prepare teachers and equip them to deliver multi-media "kits" in classrooms at convenience within the project time frame and report back results.
- Manage all documentation and follow-up with teachers, schools or districts as needed to successfiilly complete the project.
Milestones: o That every identified pipeline operator in the program target area of South Texas will have received initial contact and have been encouraged to participate in the program by providing local contact it?Ibrination, company logo and a "main contact"lbr Smalley Foundation to collaborate with regarding program delivery to their area schools. o Smalley Foundation website will be enhanced with animated Right-of-Way Ray (ROW Ray) program character o A program sizzle-real/instructional video will be produced o Program materials will be customized with local operator contact information and logos (as possible). o Identified school and school district officials will be contacted regarding program participation o Coordinate between school and local pipeline operator delivery of Pipeline Safety and Awareness for Kids program in first through fburth grade classrooms. o Pre-test/post-test and program impact report forms will be collected from participating schools and data transferred by Smalley Foundation to electronic format for analyzing.
