Main Objective
Under this grant award the South Dakota State University will develop a standard for the design of the rural water pipelines that cross under crude oil pipelines.
Public Abstract
The South Dakota State University will examine experiments and interactions between tar sands crude oil and PVC pipe and fittings; Communicate the experimental results and a summary of design alternatives to a volunteer design standards review committee that will propose a standard for the design of the water pipe crossing; Project reports will be published and available electronically to interested stakeholders; and, Project results will also be presented in conferences and seminars.
