Main Objective

Under this grant award, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety will hire one full time person to perform damage prevention program duties. Duties of this employee will include:

  1. Enforcement action follow-up and collections
  2. In-office investigations and research
  3. Statistical analysis and complaint and incident trending
  4. Court proceedings and conciliations
  5. Compliance monitoring of one-call center operations, frequent offenders, and types of offenses
  6. Rules and law review
  7. Outreach a. Safety presentations to excavators b. Safety & training presentations for operators & locators c. Annual conference with Damage Prevention track d. Safety messages for the general population
  8. Involvement in the regional Common Ground Alliance
  9. Active participation in area Utility Coordinating Committees
  10. Participation in the one-call center Operations and Communication Committees
  11. Participation in locator roundtable and summit meetings
