Interagency Agreements facilitate partnerships between PHMSA and other federal agencies and the various national labs for pipeline safety research. Projects under IAAs tend to be large, multi-year/phase, and range in budget from a few hundred thousand to a few million dollars depending on the complexity of the project. IAAs allow PHMSA to leverage the specific scientific and engineering expertise of various national labs and federal agencies for critical pipeline safety research, regulatory reform, and safety initiatives.
