This study will identify the different disposal options available for pipelines abandonded or removed from the Gulf of Mexico. The options will be assessed with regard to feasibility, safety and cost, and compared in a manner that will assist the industry to make risk-based decisions regarding the proper disposal of subsea pipelines.
After many years of oil and gas operations in The Gulf Of Mexico (GOM), a number of pipelines may require abandonment or removal during the coming years. What to do with these pipelines will be an important issue in the future. This study will identify the different disposal options available, assess them with regard to feasibility, safety and cost, and finally compare them in a manner that will assist the industry to make risk based decisions regarding the proper disposal of subsea pipelines.
