Frequently-Asked Question FAQ #172

FAQ-172: Designating entire segments as HCA

Go To FAQ#:

Question: May an operator designate an entire segment as HCA (i.e., covered by the rule)?

Answer: Yes, operators may designate an entire segment, or their entire pipeline, as covered by the rule. Operators will still need to gather information about the areas near their pipeline in order to consider differences in the consequences of pipeline accidents as part of their risk assessments and to identify appropriate preventive and mitigative measures.

These Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are intended to clarify, explain, and promote better understanding of the pipeline integrity management rules.
